Wow , we have been at our new Harris Hill Location about 10 ½ months now and are quickly running out of room. Last week one guy who didn’t have a seat sat on the floor and the parking lot has been full.

After much prayer and discussion with many in the church, we believe it is time for NorthGate to launch into a new level of what God has called us to do and to be.

We're getting very crowded at as we have grown in a wonderful way over this past 3 1/2 years. At this point we either need to knock out walls or add an additional service. Actually I think both are the answer. Short term we will be starting a new service on February 26. The new service will be added at 9 AM each Sunday morning. Our current service will be changed to 11 AM on Sunday morning. After we obtain ownership of the building (which we are currently renting) we have intentions of adding additional parking and seating capacity. Eventually going back to one service in the expanded building.

All things in God's time! What an exciting problem to have, thank you Jesus!

We Moved!

Wow! God opened a door and we moved! This past Sunday February 27th 2011 was NorthGate’s first day at our new location which is 5225 Harris Hill rd. Williamsville NY(see the video on homepage,The Latest). It was one of the best days of my life. God brought so many great people, both old friends and new friends. We had to set up extra chairs and extra communion. Our students made the transition with excitement. Many as they walked in for the first time saw the flag of their homeland as flags from over 30 different nations hung around the great room. “That’s my flag” said Joel Abram from India with a huge smile on his face. It felt like we were all coming home. For Yolande, our three children and I we were. We had attended church in the building for 17 years and Pastored there for 5 years.

Worship was off the hook! Al and Debbie Warner brought a great message and I cried with tears of joy as I saw old friends walk in from our days together in the Mennonite Church who are now kindly leasing NorthGate the building along with” People of Praise” a wonderful Christian community whom we share the building with.

For me the highlights were worshiping God in the building we had raised our children in and sharing communion with our old friends from the Mennonite Church all of whom came forward so we could share the moment together. It felt like a wonderful dream.

I can’t wait for this Sunday which is our Grand opening. My Pastor, Tommy Reid and His wonderful wife Wanda are coming to give the message. I love having them connect with our new friends at NorthGate. Their awesome! All this followed by a great celebration meal. Your invited, hope to see you there! Worship at 10:00 am, coffee and bagels at 9:45. See you then! Cheers, Jon

The students are coming back!

The students are coming back! I can't wait! Next Sunday will be our kick off (September 5th) although many are already here. Classes start next week. And speaking of next week, Wednesday is prayer and hotdog day! We are currently enjoying a great series at NorthGate called, Living a Supernatural Life. Last week we enjoyed guest speaker and one of the overseers of the ministry at NorthGate, Pastor Bill Clark and his wife from New Bethel Community Church in Buffalo. They both shared a powerful message with us, encouraging the church to fulfill our destiny in reaching out to UB and beyond. This Sunday, Jon will be sharing further in his series on how to walk out a real, dynamic and powerful living relationship with Christ. If you haven't come out to visit we would love to have you. We meet every Sunday at 9:30 and during the week NorthGate's small group are happening almost every night of the week. A new level of community is forming and if you aren't currently plugged into a faith community we would love to connect with you. Talk to you soon!

A New Message for a New Year

Our new series started Sunday, January 3rd with a great message from Jon Hasselbeck about finding our destiny in this new year. There is so much going on in our lives that can prevent us from fulfilling our true purpose in life. If you are looking for a church this new year, and really want to find a community of believers in Amherst close to the University of Buffalo, NorthGate has a lot to offer you for whatever stage in life you are at. Sundays we meet at 9:30AM at AMC 8 Theatre on Maple Rd. Hope to see you there.

Extreme Makeover

NorthGate members enjoyed an awesome week in Buffalo, November 7-14 as thousands of volunteers joined forces and began rebuilding the West Side of Buffalo, one home at a time. Thanks to so many organizations for pulling this off including of course the Extreme Makeover Team, David Homes, Americorps, The Tabernacle, Xertion Youth, PUSH, Buffalo ReUse, ReTree WNY, and so many others. It was truly an amazing time as over 50 work projects were completed on top of the "Hero Home" which will be featured on the ABC airing of the show in January. Stay tuned for details.

Here at NorthGate we are continuing the momentum with this weekend's helping hands outreach as we get out into our community and help neighbors of NorthGate clean up their yards, rake leaves, and serve our community. Keep up the momentum!

Connecting

The Love Revolution has started here at NorthGate and we are continuing the revolution by passing it on with the next series starting November 1, entitled Connections. What use is knowing the love of Jesus if we don't do anything with it? A better question might be, if we really knew the love of Jesus would we be able keep it to ourselves? The answer to that question is a resounding no. The book of Ephesians tells us, that the love of Christ surpasses knowledge. It is so high, wide, deep, and long that it is incomprehendable to the human mind. Maybe that is why the writter of Ecclesiastes said, "God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few."So no matter where you are at, Connections will be a series to get you connected into the river of God's unending love and connected with one of Buffalo's fastest growing Christian Communities at NorthGate. We are all about connecting people to God and when we are connected to God it is a natural bi-product to connect with one another. Hope to see you there Sunday, and please contact us if you are interested in getting plugged in to one of our fast growing small groups here @ NorthGate.

The Love Revolution Continues

NorthGate is a movement of young and old, students and graduates, teenagers, parents, grandparents and everything in between who are hungry for genuine community, transformation, and love. Caterpillar to Butterfly, tadpole to frog, Bruce Wayne to Batman, Clark Kent to Superman, need I go on? One of the coolest parts of Christianity is we get to experience transformation in our own lives. This time though it's not a physical change but a transformation of our mistakes for God's goodness. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." That was the topic of last weeks Sunday gathering at the AMC theater. The process takes time but as a seed grows and produces fruit, so the kingdom within us grows until we begin growing and producing fruit in our lives and the lives of people around us. The Bible says, "Freely you have received, now freely give." Once we experience transformation we need to pass it on to our families, workplaces, schools, cities, etc. It truly can become contagious and spread. Maybe that is why Isaiah prophecied that of the increase of His kingdom there would be no end. Until next time...
